A full-size garden tortoise: 33 inches from nose to tail, 20 inches wide, 15 inches high and about 175 pounds. It is cast solid, not hollow, with the growth rings on each shell plate and the scales on the legs cast in.
The shell is hand-painted in warm honey and brown over moss-green skin, then sealed against sun and wet weather. At this weight it will not shift in wind, so it suits open courtyards, gravel paths and the edge of a water feature. Two people to move it; delivered by freight.
- Solid concrete is heavy by design. Set the piece on level, compacted ground or a solid slab.
- Move it with two or more people, or with equipment on the larger pieces. Lift from the base, never by the detail.
- The seal protects the paint outdoors. Re-sealing every few seasons keeps the colour strongest.
- In hard-freeze climates, drain any water feature and cover or store it before the first freeze.

Because of what these pieces weigh, we do not accept change-of-mind returns — the freight cost on a piece this heavy would exceed what most of them are worth. Every order is fully insured in transit, so if anything arrives damaged our returns department will arrange a replacement or a refund, and you will never be asked to ship a broken piece back.
